REVIEW: Hot Chip at The Greek Theater (8/11/15)

Artists Com Truise and !!! (Chk Chk Chk) opened up the night, followed by the electronic synth-pop band Hot Chip at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles.

The band opened up with their song Hurarache Lights and got the crowd grooving to their funky, chill beats. Lead vocalist, Alexis Taylor, introduced the group, and highlighted Felix Martin on bass synthesizer who played a short solo for the crowd. The band kept the audience dancing until their song Over and Over, which was followed up by Alley Cats to mellow the crowd. The band did a great job getting the crowd back on their feet with their following songs, including a high-energy drum solo from Sarah Jones. Before their encore the band played I Feel Better, followed with their encore set that included Look at Where We Are and And I Was a Boy from School. The band ended the night with a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s Dancing in the Dark, and LCD Soundsystem’s All My Friends, which they put a great electronic and funk spin on.

The Greek Theater’s stacked summer lineup will continue until the fall. Previous performances have included Ingrid Michaelson, Wilco, Of Monsters and Men, Alabama Shakes, and more. The venue never disappoints, there’s never a bad seat in the house, and the sound is always amazing from all sides of the venue. To learn more about the Greek visit:
